Greene Group Construction Corp. works out of 18 Park Circle in Quogue, a short run east along Montauk Highway from Bridgehampton. We answer the phone at any hour, every day of the year, and we bring the same standards-based process to a farmhouse near Sagg Pond as to a new build off Ocean Road.
Every hour of standing water costs materials that could have been dried. Call before you start moving furniture.
📞 (631) 532-7346Greene Group Construction provides 24/7 water damage restoration in Bridgehampton, NY 11932 from our office at 18 Park Circle in nearby Quogue. Emergency water extraction, structural drying and dehumidification, flooded basements, burst pipes, septic backups and storm water, worked to the ANSI/IICRC S500 standard, with the rebuild under the same contract. Call (631) 532-7346.
Bridgehampton sits inland of the barrier dune line that fronts Quogue and Westhampton Beach, so it does not take direct ocean wave action the way an oceanfront village does. That does not make it dry ground. Sagg Pond forms much of the hamlet's southern edge before draining toward the Atlantic at Sagaponack, and Mecox Bay lies just to the west, so a large share of the hamlet sits on flat, sandy, low-lying land with a water table that can be only a few feet down. After a nor'easter drops days of rain over the South Fork, that groundwater rises, and it does not need a storm at the door to find its way into a basement.
Bridgehampton's history is agricultural. The hamlet grew up as farmland east of Southampton's 1640 settlement, in the area the Shinnecock called Sagaponack and Mecox, and it kept its name from a bridge built across the pond, Sagg Bridge, constructed by Ezekiel Sandford in 1686. Working farms have given way in large part to vineyards, including Channing Daughters Winery, and to large estate properties, but the low, flat, pond-and-bay geography that made this good farmland is the same geography that decides how water moves through a house here today.
Our office is at 18 Park Circle, Quogue, NY 11959, a short run east on Montauk Highway from Bridgehampton, so the crew that responds to an 11932 address has not crossed the island to get there. On the call itself we establish what the water is, where it came from, and whether the house is occupied, since a supply-line failure in a year-round house is a different job from a septic backup in a shuttered summer house.
This is the part of Bridgehampton restoration that out-of-area crews plan for poorly. According to the 2020 Census, the Bridgehampton CDP had a population of 2,953 across 1,136 households, but the housing stock stood at 2,632 units, about 57 percent of them vacant at the time of the count, consistent with how much of the hamlet is second-home and seasonal property.
A supply line that fails behind a vanity in an occupied house gets found the same day. The identical failure in a closed house is found by a caretaker or a neighbor, whenever that happens to be, sometimes after standing water has grown visible microbial contamination. On closed-house losses we photograph and log the condition of the house from the moment we open the door and check the full envelope, because water travels sideways along joist bays and shows up somewhere nobody suspected.
Call us directly. We regularly coordinate emergency response for Bridgehampton caretakers and property managers on behalf of owners who may be in the city or overseas when a house floods.
Extraction is the least visible and most important phase of the job. Every gallon pulled mechanically is a gallon the dehumidifiers do not have to remove from the air one pint at a time. Our rule: extract until nothing more comes up, wait for materials to release what they are holding, then extract again, since on a house with original heart-pine or oak flooring the gap between aggressive and casual extraction is often the gap between saving the boards and tearing them out.
We map moisture before we place a single fan: meter readings on affected and unaffected materials of the same type, plus thermal imaging to trace the wet perimeter. A thermal camera does not see moisture, it sees temperature difference, so the image is a place to point the meter, never a substitute for it.
Once the free water is out, the job becomes psychrometrics: managing temperature, humidity and evaporation inside a controlled space. Bridgehampton's humid summers push in the same direction as anywhere else on the East End, warm, wet outside air does not pull moisture out of wet wood the way warm, dry air does, so a drying plan built on open windows and fans alone tends to stall in July and August. We use low-grain refrigerant dehumidification for most residential work, and desiccant units on larger or heavily saturated jobs, an engineering decision based on the readings, not a default setting.
Bridgehampton's building stock spans farmhouses that predate electricity, mid-century additions, and estate-scale new construction, so we are frequently drying materials that behave nothing like a modern subdivision:
We log daily readings at the same materials in the same spots, and equipment stays until materials hit a documented dry standard measured against unaffected material of the same type.
Drying is where a restoration invoice is either justified or padded. Ask any contractor, including us, for the moisture log. If they cannot produce one, they were guessing. See the Long Island water damage restoration overview for the full process.
Four kinds of loss account for most of our Bridgehampton water calls.
A Bridgehampton basement often floods for reasons unrelated to a burst pipe: groundwater through the slab and cold joint, especially on low ground near Sagg Pond or Mecox Bay, or a sump pump that loses power during the storm it exists for. Groundwater intrusion is treated as contaminated under the IICRC framework, which is why we remove insulation and carpet pad from a basement that "just had a little clean water in it." Because Bridgehampton is unincorporated, a rebuild follows the Town of Southampton Code, Chapter 169, Flood Damage Prevention, Local Law 40-2009, rather than a separate village code; see our Southampton area permits guide.
Bridgehampton sits outside any municipal sewer district, like most of Suffolk County's East End, where county estimates put roughly three-quarters of properties on individual septic systems. A backup is almost always your own tank, line or leaching field, often caused by a saturated field that cannot accept effluent. Sewage is Category 3 water under IICRC S500: containment, protective equipment, and removal of porous materials rather than an attempt to dry them.
Bridgehampton sees storm water differently than an oceanfront village because it sits back from the open Atlantic. Wind-driven rain through a storm-created opening (lifted shingles, failed flashing) is usually the most straightforwardly insurable loss: tarp, dry, then repair the envelope, all under one contract. Tidal push up Sagg Pond and Mecox Bay during a strong nor'easter or hurricane can raise water on the low ground nearest those bodies, and that surge is Category 3 water and a flood-policy question. Groundwater surcharge after sustained rain often arrives once the storm has moved on, which is why a wet basement a day later does not always get connected back to the storm.
Coverage, briefly and honestly. Homeowners policies generally respond to sudden and accidental water and exclude rising surface water and surge, which fall to a flood policy. We document every loss, but we are contractors, not licensed insurance advisors. Read your declarations page.
Greene Group's water damage work follows ANSI/IICRC S500, Standard for Professional Water Damage Restoration, currently the Fifth Edition, published in 2021, an American National Standard developed by consensus. Two parts of it drive nearly everything on your job.
Category describes contamination and determines what can stay and what has to go. Category 1 is clean supply water, Category 2 carries meaningful contamination, and Category 3 is grossly contaminated, including sewage, tidal surge, and groundwater. Category degrades with time and temperature. Clean water sitting in a warm, closed Bridgehampton house for a week is no longer Category 1, which is the strongest argument for calling as soon as you find it.
Class describes the evaporation load, how much water is present and how hard it will be to remove, and determines how many air movers and how much dehumidification your house actually needs. Placing equipment to a calculated load rather than to whatever fits in the van is the difference between a five-day dry and a fifteen-day one.
We also hold the licenses that let us finish the job rather than hand it off: Suffolk County HIC #HI-72958 and Nassau County HIC #EF-65498. Ask any contractor working on your Bridgehampton house for their license number, and ask who is pulling the permit for the rebuild.

Yes. Our office is at 18 Park Circle in Quogue, a short run east on Montauk Highway, not a crew from western Suffolk or Nassau County. Drive time is the biggest factor in how much of a wet house gets dried instead of demolished.
Call (631) 532-7346, any hour. If the water is clean and the main shutoff is safe to reach, close it first. Stay away from outlets and the panel if water is nearby. If sewage is involved, keep people and pets out of the room.
Nearly everything. The 2020 Census counted 2,632 housing units in Bridgehampton against 1,136 occupied households, about 57 percent vacant, consistent with how much of the hamlet is second-home property. A pipe that fails in a lived-in house is caught in minutes; the same failure in a closed house can run for days.
Bridgehampton sits outside any municipal sewer district, like most of the East End, where the county estimates roughly three-quarters of properties run on septic. A backup is almost always your own tank, line or leaching field, often caused by a high water table near Sagg Pond or Mecox Bay. Under IICRC S500 that is Category 3: containment and removal of porous materials, not fans and deodorizer.
Often, yes. Bridgehampton's building stock ranges from centuries-old farmhouses to new high-end construction, and older plaster, wide-plank flooring and post-and-beam framing hold water differently than modern drywall. We meter each material before choosing equipment.
Generally no. Homeowners policies respond to sudden and accidental water, such as a burst pipe or wind-driven rain through a storm-created opening. Rising surface water, tidal surge, and groundwater are usually excluded and fall to a flood policy. Read your declarations page.
That the work follows ANSI/IICRC S500, Fifth Edition, 2021. The water is classified by category and class, equipment is placed to a calculated load, and moisture readings are logged daily until materials reach a documented dry standard.
Yes. Greene Group is a licensed general contractor, Suffolk County HIC #HI-72958 and Nassau County HIC #EF-65498, so the same company that dries the structure puts the plaster, trim and flooring back. No handoff gap.
Water in a Bridgehampton house does not wait for business hours. Call (631) 532-7346 at any hour, or read the Long Island water damage restoration process. If it came through the roof, start with storm damage.
